Nissan Juke Sets A Skiing Speed Record

Yes, it's called "skiing" - taking a four-wheel vehicle up on two wheels while in motion. Skiing has been a mainstay of car stunts since the time of Henry Ford, and even in our digital age there's still something oddly thrilling about keeping a ton of rolling metal balanced like a drunk figure skater.

To promote its upgraded Nissan Juke Nismo RS - the 215-hp version of the wacky compact crossover - Nissan commissioned stunt driver Terry Grant to attack the world's record for fastest mile on two wheels in a four-wheel vehicle - 2 minutes and 55 seconds, set in 2011 at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Seeing as how Grant had done so in another Juke, this assignment lacked a bit of difficulty rating.

That said, Grant and team set up for three months, and the organizers at Goodwood were ready to give him six attempts at the record. In the end, he only needed one to shave 45 seconds off his previous top. Watch the attempt below, and pay no heed to the announcer who confuses this car with the 600-hp Nissan Juke R 2.0, which is a Juke forcibly mated to the engine and all-wheel-drive system of the Nissan GT-R. Maybe that should go on the next ski outing.
